Our Mission

Parents For Inclusion is dedicated to empowering youth through education. We recently launched our first scholarship for high school seniors. Discover our winners and stay tuned for our upcoming STEM scholarship!

The Parents for Inclusion Scholarship was established to support marginalized high school seniors who have experienced systemic inequity or personal hardship. This scholarship is intended for students who plan to continue their education at a college, university, or accredited trade school. Each year, one recipient is awarded $500, and a runner-up receives $200 to support their educational journey. Our review process is designed to ensure fairness and equity. Applications are evaluated by a panel of professionals from the community who have no personal connection to any applicants. To further promote unbiased decision-making, all submissions are fully redacted prior to review, and a standardized rubric is used to guide evaluations and ensure consistency. Through this scholarship, we aim to recognize resilience, determination, and the pursuit of opportunity in the face of systemic challenges.

Mr. and Mrs. Carlos Chavarria held a deep and unwavering belief in the power of education—a value they instilled in their family and carried forward through generations. Carlos Chavarria, an engineer by training, exemplified the importance of discipline, innovation, and lifelong learning, while Patricia Chavarria embodied perseverance in action. Patricia returned to college in her 40s, earning both her bachelor’s and master’s degrees in education. Through her determination, she showed her children firsthand that education can open doors at any stage of life. Together, they raised children who carried that legacy forward. Their sons, Carlos Chavarria Jr., Christopher Chavarria—a physics teacher—and Dr. Kevin Chavarria, an internist, each built meaningful paths shaped by the values of education, service, and curiosity. Dr. Kevin Chavarria’s legacy continues through his five children: Shetorra, Christina, Kevin, Brijae, and Chandler. Christina and Kevin pursued degrees in biology, becoming integral contributors to the pharmaceutical field, while Dr. Brijae Chavarria-Lewis majored in nursing before continuing on to medical school to become a psychiatrist. Each reflects the family’s enduring commitment to STEM, education, and community impact. Today, Dr. Brijae Chavarria-Lewis proudly continues this legacy. In partnership with Parents for Inclusion, she is honored to establish the Patricia and Carlos Chavarria Scholarship for STEM Excellence. This scholarship celebrates not only academic achievement, but also perseverance, passion, and the belief that education can transform lives. It is designed to support and uplift students pursuing futures in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics—ensuring that the Chavarria family’s commitment to education continues to inspire generations to come.
